Well, it’s been a while but I’m back! After a little more thought I have decided to change the name of this space. During this process of writing my first book I am constantly telling myself to “just write.” On days I have no confidence, on days I need just a little push, on days I would rather just sit and read a good book. “Just write” has become a kind of mantra for me. Regardless of how I feel, regardless of my emotions at the time, regardless of my level of confidence in myself and this project, I tell myself, “just write.” I feel this is an appropriate name for this space. After all, this space is meant to be an outlet for sharing my experiences writing my first book. Just Write will be my writing journal with a few posts about books and authors sprinkled on top.
With the “extra sprinkles” in mind, my next post will be about some excellent books I have read recently, Into The Black Nowhere by Meg Gardiner; The Woman In The Water by Charles Finch and On Writing by Stephen King. All three are phenomenal but On Writing is proving to be invaluable to me as a beginning writer. It’s full of blunt, practical advice from one of the best writers of our time. But more on that later.

Welcome! This Space Is Under Construction...
Hello and Welcome!
Thanks for visiting my blog! I plan to use this space to share my experiences while writing my first mystery book. It’s my goal to post here weekly discussing research, ideas, sharing my progress and set backs, posting short stories that help fill in backstory, discuss plot, brainstorm and most importantly, write.
The more I write the more confident I feel that I can actually pull this off. I’ve been working on my book for over a year now and it’s been one amazing roller coaster ride! Over the last year I’ve discovered that writing is the only thing in my life that is just as frustrating as it is rewarding. I know I have a long way to go still but I’m enjoying every bit of this journey.
I can’t wait to share all of this with you. So please be patient as I continue to build this space. Hopefully I’ll have it fully up and running in the next few weeks. Until then, thanks for stopping by!
